First Snowfall...

Its snowing!!! To be honest, I was slightly dreading this moment...bad weather and icy roads...but now that its come, I love the snow. It looks so amazing. I knew it was supposed to snow a little bit, but there are a good couple of inches on the ground right now. Of course, it will be short lived, as the temperature should go up tomorrow. That's ok. There's enough time for a good snowball fight or sledding maybe...hmm. I feel like now its officially Christmas season, and I have a huge urge to go down the plaza in Kansas city and window shop (if I weren't in VA of course)! Oh, and I am definitely drinking hot chocolate right now. If we had a fireplace, it would be perfect.

Ok, enough about that. Hopefully everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Cincinnati was awesome, although we did basically spend the entire time watching college football...but, I guess that's what I get for hanging out with three guys. We did do a few other things, went out on the town, did some window shopping, watched some movies. It was very relaxing. So nice to see Alex too.

On a not so pleasant note, Alex's Grandpa was not doing well the week up to Thanksgiving, he had cancer, and they knew he could go at any moment. He died Saturday morning after Thanksgiving...so, if you could all keep him in your prayers, I'm sure Alex would really appreciate that.

Since the break, this past week, I have been working like crazy to make up for the few hours I did over Thanksgiving, spent a night out with Christendom people, and have been playing some indoor soccer. Only about two more weeks til I come home for Christmas!! Can't wait! Well, that's all for now...

Its Been Awhile...

So, I know, its been probably over two months since I have posted anything on here. I've been meaning to! With all the time I spend on the computer, you'd think posting on my blog every now and then wouldn't be so hard!
Anyways, what has been going on...well, work as always. Every day, five days a week. Fun stuff. A couple of weeks ago, I started going out to dinner every Thursday evening with a few other alumni who are still living in the area. It has definitely been a good way to keep in touch with a few people, and its nice to get out every now and then with a group. Other than that, I have been staying active by playing soccer a few times a week. I am on an indoor team on Friday nights with my brother, sister, and a few other people from Christendom. And then I play again on Sundays and Mondays. Hopefully I will start teaching dancing on Wednesdays as well. In addition to all of this, I usually see Maddie about once a week to hang out and talk. Her baby is getting so big! I can't believe it!
So, the holidays are coming up, Thanksgiving next week and Christmas in a month...super exciting! Anybody have good plans? Matt, Marion, and I are making a road trip down to Cincinnati for Thanksgiving at Alex's. Should be tons of fun! It'll be nice to get a break from work and actually hang out with old friends! Alicia...will you be around?
OK, well that is a very condensed version of my past two months here...as far as today goes, I have been home all day, grading papers and blogging. Tonight is the weekly dinner with alumni, and after that I may watch some intramural volleyball at Christendom. I promise to blog more often!!

Ciao

Baking...

OK, so I've been wanting to bake something other than frozen pizza since I've been here, but haven't had the time or the ingredients to do it yet. However, after finally getting some flour, sugar...other random things, I am going to make some banana bread! It's about time I do something with those rotten bananas anyways. So yea, I'm super excited to finally use the oven for what its meant to be used for. And, since Matt could care less about banana bread, I get to use real eggs! Yea I'll let you know how it turns out...btw, baking soda and baking powder are basically the same thing...right?

Now that the banana bread is in the oven, I have an urge to continue baking and make some cookies...but then I'd have to use egg replacer, and I don't feel like dealing with that at the moment. However, I do feel very domestic right now and might just clean the entire apartment today, lol. It needs to be done, that's for sure. The problem with such a small apartment is that when the slightest thing is out of place, the whole room looks cluttered. No matter how many times I clean the dishes, there are always more 2 seconds later. So annoying! I really wish we had a dish washer, but oh well. I guess this is good training for me.

Anywayz, since I have written last, not much has happened really. I am still working every day at Seton, grading and reading. Nothing new and exciting there. This past weekend was pretty chill for the most part. On Friday I finally hung out with Maddie! We went out for coffee at the Daily Grind on main street, and then went back to her place where I talked with her and Nick for awhile. It was so nice to finally hang out with a friend who is a girl! lol. Maddie and I are going to try to get together more often since Nick is in class a couple nights a week.

Last night, I went to the Christendom girls' soccer practice for the first time....my muscles are so sore right now. I have done zero exercising since I've been here, so it felt nice. Then Matt, Theresa, Hadro, Cyrus, and I went bowling. Fun times. OK well, I think I've ranted on long enough, and the banana bread is done now, yay!

First Week of Work!

So, the apartment looks semi decent now that Theresa has officially moved into her dorm room. However, my bedroom is still in need of a dresser...thank goodness I have a huge closet.

Anywayz, I started work this week! Well...the good thing is, at the moment, I basically get paid to read books. I will be grading English 10, so I have to read all the books required for the book reports/analyses, beginning with A Tale of Two Cities. On top of that, I am doing some training, which is basically nothing. Another good thing about having to just read books is that, since I can obviously read at home, I only have to spend a few hours at Seton in the morning. Definitely not the most exciting job in the world, but I do look forward to some of the book selections, especially David Copperfield and The Robe!

Hmm...what else. I drove to Manassas last night to hang with Marion, Cyrus, and Greg Monroe for a few hours at a small bar and grill. I haven't seen Greg in forever! It was awesome to catch up with them for awhile and just chill. Oh and I almost got lost on the way back b/c the highway I'm supposed to take all the way to Front Royal was under construction for a few miles and I had to make up a detour using Matt's GPS (thank goodness I took that with me!), or else I probably would have died. May I note that it was about 12:45 at night...in the backroads of VA, yea not cool.

Soo, until next week when all the college kids get back in town, I will be sitting in my room reading about the French Revolution.

Finally in VA!

Ok so here I am, sitting in my apartment, and am finally able to write on this thing. We arrived in VA on Tuesday around 9pm and have been unpacking/organizing ever since! We took a few days to get here, stopping in St. Louis on Sunday to stay with the relatives, and then in Cincinnati on Monday to chill with Alex and Alicia, which was a ton of fun!! Then we made the long, 9 hour trip to Fro Ro. And now here I am!

There are so many things we need for the apartment still...ah its stressful. Time to hit the Goodwill store! But I like the place and can't wait to get everything settled in. However, there are a few downsides to living here...like I get no reception in the apartment...there are bugs everywhere...the kitchen faucet handle is broken...yea, random things like that. I'll upload some pix when the place looks semi decent. Sooo other than that, not much has been going on here, but I must say, its so nice to finally have my own car out here! I don't have to bum a ride off of anyone anymore (Alex) lol. I'm not sure yet how living with Matt will be...but I guess once work starts I won't have to deal with him during the day, haha.

Speaking of which, I start work on monday...yay.

I can't wait until the college students come back to Christendom!! I am sooo bored!! But have soo much to do!

Well, sorry this isn't the most interesting post...but more will come!

Here is my first blog entry! Just for future reference, I will probably not have much time to write on this thing until I actually get to VA...since my summer right now is so horribly busy! Ok, well there's my first extremely short post! Check back in about 3 weeks...to be continued...
